Our reception started with Nate and I being introduced.
We went straight into our first dance. One of our bridesmaids choreographed the dance for us including this move by Nate. He had major hip surgery 7 months before this and just 2 months before he was still using a cane so it was pretty much a miracle that he was able to do this. As a result though, he didn't really dance the rest of the night.
Our dinner was pretty awesome although I didn't eat it until we were back in our hotel room later that night (they were nice enough to wrap it up for me).
We had low centerpieces of floating gerber daisies and votives
and our favors were little bottles of maple syrup and maple syrup candy that we got at a local farm (we were in vermont... how could you not have maple syrup?). We made the labels with our names, date and location printed on it. We had a bunch of little bottles left over that we are still using!
After dinner there were toasts, visits and father/daughter, mother/son dances.
I still don't really know who started this, but at one point almost half our guest were wearing these. Everybody was having a really good time with it.
After dinner there was a lot of dancing and by a lot I mean a lot. Our dance floor was absolutely packed.
We took a break from dancing to eat some cake. We got our cake from a local bakery and use cupcakes as accents instead of fruit or flowers
After cake and the bouquet toss there was a bunch more dancing and then Nate and I headed
out. It was a pretty awesome wedding if I do say so myself. It is so much fun going through the photos and remembering all the fun we had. One other momento we have from the night is the Bates banner we used in the Bates photo. Everybody at the wedding signed it and now it hangs in our office as a reminder of all the wonderful people we have in our life.
