Elephant Art

Every once in awhile I come across something I really really like. And nine times out of ten, said item is way over my budget. That's what happened recently with a piece of art from One King's Lane.

Something about this piece really stuck with me but at $225 it wasn't coming home. I do have some very minor art skills so after longing after the elephant for a few weeks I decided to replicate it to the best of my ability. I had a left over canvas from another project as well as some pastels so one night I sat down and free-handed my version of the elephant.

I can not tell you how happy I was when I managed to pull this one off. I think it's pretty close to the original and it didn't cost be anything! We made a frame (see instructions here) which isn't finished in this pic so that was the only money we spent. I really love it in our dining room right now but it's only here until I decide where I want it to end up.

What's your favorite art project?
