First Trip to the Zoo

Saturday was my birthday. Usually, I can't believe how fast a year has gone, but this year has felt long. So much has happened and changed in our lives it feels like we've packed a few more years in somewhere. I like birthdays though. I do an activity I normally don't make time for, I get to spend time with family and friends and there is usually a few really good meals and a couple of presents in the mix.

This year was no different. Normally I like kayaking on my birthday, but this year, we took Will to the zoo for the first time. It was a little warm so we only did part of the zoo but we have passes for the month so we're planning on coming back later when it gets a little cooler. We did get to see monkeys and wallabies as well as a baby rhino that was younger than Will!

We also got a babysitter for Will. We've had a babysitter watch him before but just for an hour or so during the day. This was the first time we had him watched during his bedtime. It went really well and we were able to enjoy an excellent Thai meal with friends.

It was a great birthday and now I'm enjoying my flowers from my parents and a new running watch. I'm also really excited to read Let's Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson which I received from a friend. I've read her blog for awhile now and find her hilarious. Now I just need to carve out some time to read something other than school stuff.
