16 Weeks

We've officially hit the 16 week mark! You'll notice that not much has happened with the bump and also, not so much has happened in the kitchen. However, we have made some progress in the soon to be master bedroom which needs to happen before we do the next step in the kitchen so we're making baby steps (pun intended).

Here is the rundown from the first month of the second trimester!

This week, Baby is the size of aAvocado
How far along? 16 weeks
Due date: March 14, 2013
Total weight gain/loss: 5 lbs down still
Maternity clothes? I've bought 2 pairs of work paints and one pair of jeans but I have no need to wear them yet since all of my clothes still fit fine. Although, I have worn the jeans a couple of times on the weekends in lieu of sweat pants since they are so loose and don't look as scrubby as sweatpants.
Sleep:  I've been having a lot of active dreams and I get up quite a bit to go to the bathroom. Because of the dreams there are some days that I feel completely exhausted but I have enough good nights to compensate.
Best moment this month: On our 14 week baby appt we got to hear the baby's heart beat and we didn't know that was going to happen so that was a really awesome surprise.
Movement: Not yet. Apparently some people can feel the baby move at this point but it's still pretty early.
Food cravings: I've started being able to eat more variety but I've been eating basically the same two meals for the past couple of weeks. Right now I'm loving grilled cheese with tomato and tomato soup and turkey and cheese wraps with mayo, mustard, tomato and pickles with cucumber soaked in rice vinegar on the side. On the weekends we've been trying to make real solid meals at least one day so Nate feels like he's actually eating (he describes most of my concoctions as "Cassandra size food")
Symptoms  I've gone from no appetite to 'I'll get hungry and if I don't eat almost immediately it turns into a horrible stomach ache' so I've started carrying snacks with me. Also, this whole relaxin hormone is literally being a huge pain. My legs are uncomfortable pretty much all the time (I've been getting leg cramps that I haven't experienced in years) and I've had a couple of painful sciatica moments. I've also had a few pregnancy brain moments (I actually had to double check that I was putting clothes in the washer and not the dryer) which should make taking the Physics GRE's next weekend interesting.
Gender: 4 weeks until we can find out!
Feeling toward Pregnancy: Were you expecting more of a baby bump at this point?... because I was. I'm not going to complain too much since I'm sure in the long run I'll get tired of the bump but with the lack of bump and the weight loss I'm actually smaller than I've been in about a year which just seems weird at this point. Also, it still doesn't seem completely real since there are no outward indicators that I'm pregnant. So basically right now I still don't feel too different... just like I'm doing a hard workout everyday... which I'm not.
What I miss: Being able to walk around the lake (or around the neighborhood) without being in pain.
What I am looking forward to: Finding out the gender! Next time I post one of these we'll know which is so exciting.
Milestones: Getting an appetite back and hearing the heartbeat!
