No More Painting... For Now

It took a few weeks of sporadic painting and some cramped hands and necks, but the front hall is finally painted!

This is what our front hall looked like before we moved in.

And now, after many coats of paint (and some furniture), it now looks like this

It's a lot brighter now and has considerably more storage! We used a soft gray called Urban Sunrise by Valspar on the walls and for the trim and the walls under the chair rail we used Summer Gray also by Valspar. You may notice that there is still a little peak of wood trim. This is because the floor trim wraps all the way around the living room and dinning room and since we didn't want to start that project yet, we had to stop somewhere.

I moved a table that we had in the living room into the space next to the door. We have baskets on it that store the dogs toys and leashes and on top we have a place to throw our keys when we come home.

We got a really cute rug from Target as well as a basket which I will tell you more about next week.

Here's another before shot before we painted.

And now,

This is our shoe storage unit we picked up at a consignment store. We got this one and the one in our dinning room for a really great price. It holds pretty much all of our shoes (when we actually put them away that is) and I love how we can look at this really pretty piece instead of a mess of shoes.

We topped the shoe storage with a couple of lamps to brighten up the hall and some of our favorite photos.

We still have a few more things to do in this space, but the painting was definitely the biggest and most time consuming job. We are really liking the gray because it just gives a touch of color and in certain light it just looks like a shadow!

  1. Cassandra, your entry looks amazing! I love the Urban Sunrise and Summer Gray in here. They were the perfect color choices. I would love to feature this on my paint color blog. You wouldn't have to do a thing, just let me know if you're interested!
