Shoe Storage

A couple of weeks ago I showed you our new dresser turned buffet in our dining room.

Today I'm going to show you it's brother; dresser turned shoe storage. He lives in our hallway and became our solution for putting away our shoes. Originally, we were going to go with this

HEMNES Shoe cabinet with 2 compartments, white Width: 35 " Depth: 11 3/4 " Height: 50 " Width: 89 cm Depth: 30 cm Height: 127 cm

The Ikea Hemnes shoe cabinet. It goes for $139 and I liked it because it didn't look like a shoe storage bin. We would have really needed two of them to store both Nate and my shoes, but we had planned to just get one for the shoes we use a lot and then storing the rest in our closet.

Then we found the furniture consignment store and our plans immediately changed. Instead of the skinny guy from Ikea, we could get a full blown dresser for $125. After my initial visit and before we went back to see if they were still at the store, we measured the space in our front hallway to see if the smaller dresser would fit in the spot we wanted it to go in. The fact that it would fit perfectly and the fact that we were able to negotiate the price sold us on the dressers. (As a reminder, these are solid wood dressers with dove tail joints so these guys are heavy!) We got them home in two trips.

Here is the dresser turned shoe storage in its place.

This dresser has 9 really good size drawers. I have 6 and Nate has 3 (No surprise there) and this guy stores everything! I have my flats, sandals, heels, sneakers and even my boots in there! It is really nice to have a really pretty place for our shoes now (opposed to the Walmart bins we had before).
