Thousands of Staples Later...

It took quite a few hours over a couple of nights as well as quite a few scrapes, but the fabric is now off our chair we found at the Habitat for Humanity Restore. This is what we started with

and now we are here (sorry for the bad pics)

All the gross old fabric has been removed. This chair had layer upon layer of staples holding the fabric on the chair. I used a mini screw driver to pull each staple out a bit and then used pliers to pull them out the rest of the way and then repeated over and over and over again. I definitely used leverage to my advantage, but I'm not going to lie, my hands hurt for a couple of days after finishing this.

Even though the fabric was gross, everything else was in really great shape so we are able to reuse it which is great! Here is what we have to do next:

  • Remove the old fabric (I'm going to guess this is going to take a lot of time)
  • Asses the condition of the cushions and if they are in bad shape, replace them
  • Stain the legs a less orangey color
  • Get new fabric and duplicate the pieces from the chair
  • Decide which look I want for the chair (between the second and third inspiration chairs)
  • Put all the fabric back on (the super scary step!)
