Pantry Progress

As promised, we are working on finishing ups projects. One of the projects is the pantry where there were a lot of finishing touches that hadn't been done yet.

We finally bought and installed a threshold. I still need to poly it but the transition between the pantry and the kitchen is no longer a tripping hazard.

We also hadn't finished putting in all the floor trim. I cut down some quarter round and used our nail gun to add the trim.

It's really amazing how much of a difference the little things make when you are finishing a project.

We also added a board running vertically down the edge of the shelves near the door. This is going to be a storage area for our brooms and mops and vacuum so they can stop living on our back porch.

We had gaps where the back board of our shelves met the walls so, on both sides, I added small quarter round and painted it to give it a seamless look.

Lastly I finished cutting in around the floor trim, painted the board and painted all the trim in the room. (excuse the white dust, I didn't vacuum it up yet)

Progress has been made but the pantry is still not done! On our to-do list to finish this room off is:

  • Paint the ceiling
  • Install organization tools for the brooms etc area
  • Personalize the Ikea cabinet unit
  • Put all the outlet and switch covers back home
  • Maybe replace the light?
The list is getting shorter but we're not quite there yet. Hopefully in the next few weeks this project will be done!
