Saving Memories

I've had my childhood dresser hanging around for awhile, staring at me, begging me to spruce it up. It's an awesome, well-built, little dresser but the years have taken their toll and the paint is now beat up and the white is not really white anymore.

The main reason I haven't touched the dresser yet is because I wanted to try and find a way to keep the bears or at least keep the bears as an option (my mom painted it for me when I was little and I can be sentimental about things like this). I tried a couple of ideas with things I had laying around to transfer the image but wasn't successful so I took some basic craft paint and traced the edges of the image with a Q-tip.

Then I pressed a piece of card stock onto the paint. This gave me enough of an outline to draw around.

After I cut everything out, I had a stencil so that I can repaint the bears on the dresser or save it and use it at a later point.

So the next step is to give the dresser a nice new coat of paint. I'm thinking of going bright with this one but you'll have to wait and see!
