When to NOT DIY

We are all about doing work on our house, but there are some jobs we either can't or won't do. Once of these jobs is dealing with load bearing walls. We like the levels of our house to stay on the appropriate levels so while we could maybe...possibly... take out a load bearing wall without the house falling down, it is safer and less gross work for us if we leave that sort of job for the professionals.

That leads us to today. It may look like we are moving out,

But really we just moved everything out of the surrounding rooms to protect them from debris of taking the wall down between the dining room and kitchen!

Two guys are working on taking down the wall right now. They first hung plastic and then built walls on both sides to support the second floor.

Now they are working on taking down all the plaster and lath. Hopefully, buy next week, we'll have a nice view into the kitchen!

  1. I've seen this done...and would not try it myself. So glad you're able to get it done.
Hope the price was good. My daughter and son found someone to do theirs..and it was a good price, AND THEY were bonded. So any problems comes back on them.

Can't wait to see your 'new space'! Pat
