Scraping By

After a weekend in Ct and NYC visiting friends, we are back in Pulaski for one more week before we go back to FL. While we've been up in Pulaski, Nate has spent most of the time updating his sister's house from fuse box to a breaker box and rewiring some of the rooms. I, on the other hand, have spent most of the time sitting on my butt. To my defense it is technically my vacation, but this week I decided to help out and scrape the front porch.

Here is what it looked like when I started:

A lot of the paint is chipped which is great for scraping. The problem is that there is layer after layer after layer of paint. Because of this, I am using a heat gun to help me lift some of the pain. Also, somebody decided at some point to carpet the front porch. I'm pretty sure it is for the same reason there are so many layers of paint.... somebody didn't want to scrape it. I ripped off the carpet and found a lot of flaky paint which actually makes my life easier. After ripping off the carpet and scraping for an hour and a half, this is what it looks like

It is probably hard to tell any difference since the bottom layer of paint is a similar green to what we started with. It is going to be a slow process, but hopefully this paint job will last a lot longer than the previous 10 or so that currently are there! Stay tuned for the outcome!
